Best Paper Award for researchers from the Institute of Computer Science

Researcher Dr. Oier Mees from the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Freiburg has won the 2022 IEEE Robotics and Automation Letter Best Paper Award for his paper "CALVIN: A Benchmark for Language-conditioned Policy Learning for Long-horizon Robot Manipulation Tasks". He wrote the paper together with Lukas Hermann, Erick Rosete-Beas and Prof. Dr. Wolfram Burgard. The award is presented by the IEEE Robotics & Automation Society and is endowed with 1,000 dollars. The Society recognises scientific and technological excellence in the field of robotics and automation.
In addition, the paper "Grounding Language with Visual Affordances over Unstructured Data" by Mees, Jessica Borja-Diaz and Burgard was nominated for the Best Paper Award in Robot Learning at the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA).
