The University is Becoming More Diverse
Freiburg, May 10, 2019
The third sex, #metoo, the gender pay gap, and headscarf bans are just a few catchphrases coming up during the latest societal debate on equality and diversity. At universities too, these issues fuel controversy. The lecture series "Gleichstellung und Diversität in den Wirtschafts- und Verhaltenswissenschaften" ("Equality and Diversity in Economics and the Behavioral Sciences") would like to establish a bridge between societal and academic debates on these topics. The weekly lectures will be held Thursdays, starting at 4:15 p.m. in Lecture Hall 3044, Collegiate Building III, Platz der Universität 3. The series opens on 16 May 2019 with a lecture by Anna-Lena Forster, a two-time paralympics medal winner and psychology student at the University of Freiburg.
On 23 May 2019 Sharzad Mohammadi will then give a report about "Projekt Bike Bridge" which is dedicated to teaching refugee women to cycle. Dr. Antje Schrupp will give a lecture entitled "Grundeinkommen und Care-Revolution – Feministische Impulse für aktuelle ökonomische Debatten" ("Basic Income and Care Revolution – Feminist Stimuli for Current Economic Debates") on 27 June 2019. The next session, on 4 July 2019, will address the topic of internationalization at the university. Almut Schnerring and Sascha Verlan will wrap up the series on 11 July 2019 with a talk on the issue of "Gender Marketing."
