Leave of Absence and University Library

Thanks to a new bylaw, students can make up for the delays in academic studies caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Also, the University Library is opening on April 23, 2020, at first with limited access

“It is very important to me that we take the personal situations and needs of our students into account,” said Rector Prof. Dr. Hans-Jochen Schiewer about the recently passed corona statute of the University of Freiburg. This enables the University to take special action in response to the pandemic, which has made normal academic studies for the coming semester and the completion of the last semester impossible. The new bylaw means that students can apply for a leave of absence to make up for delays, thereby giving them more options. The Rector also said that the University Library will soon be opening. Starting April 23, University students and staff will have limited access to the library.
