How the energy transition can succeed with the help of flexible electrical grids
Freiburg, Nov 16, 2018
Renewable energies are making up an ever larger share of energy production, but they are still susceptible to great fluctuations. In addition, the possibilities for transmitting them over the electrical grid are still limited. It is thus necessary to adjust the grid to achieve a sensible balance between supply and demand and transmit energy to consumers. Anke Weidlich, professor for energy distribution technologies at the University of Freiburg’s Department of Sustainable Systems Engineering, is studying how the transition to a sustainable energy supply can succeed and what needs to be taken into account.
