A year in the pandemic’s grip

The Corona pandemic continues to determine everyday life at the University of Freiburg through the lockdown, suspended classroom teaching, and working from home. Since November 2, 2020, the University has been in Phase 5 of its Corona Phase Plan. The regional infection incidence levels on which this plan is based is now declining. However, due to the legally binding requirements of the Corona regulations by the state of Baden-Württemberg, it is currently not possible for the University to switch to a lower phase. Moreover, incidence figures are still only snapshots that can deteriorate very quickly. This is especially true in view of the rapidly spreading virus mutations. In a video in which she addresses all members of the University of Freiburg, Rector Prof. Dr. Kerstin Krieglstein emphasizes how well the University community is coping with the challenge of the pandemic, despite all the limitations, and why it is important to continue to persevere.
