Urban leisure
Interested participants can register for the four-day conference from the CRC Otium until April 12, 2019
Freiburg, Mar 26, 2019
Elevator-riding pedestrians, metropolitan techno clubs and flower festivals in Delhi: The connection between leisure and life in urban space is the theme of this year's conference “Urban leisure. Materialities, Practices, Representations.” In a series of lectures, a round table and a city tour, researchers will look at phenomena of urbanity and leisure historically, combine them with contemporary considerations and discuss them as cultural histories of urban leisure. The special research area 1015 “Otium. Boundaries. Chronotopes, Practices” explores interdisciplinary leisure cultures and focuses on social and socio-political aspects.
