Unregistered cases
Freiburg, Jul 01, 2019
It is the focus of public debate and yet hardly researched: assault by police officers. In particular, there is little information available on unregistered cases of crime, the so-called dark field, or conflict situations. Prof. Dr. Tobias Singelnstein, head of the Department of Criminology at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, will present the current state of research and a current study on the subject in his lecture “Körperverletzung im Amt durch Polizeibeamte” (“Physical Injury in Office by Police Officers.”) In his research project of the same name, he evaluates an online survey of victims as well as interviews with experts in order to investigate with his team illegal use of police force from the victims’ perspective and with a focus on the police processing process.
