Tandem lecture on the economy and climate change
Freiburg, Jan 31, 2022
One sustainability topic, two speakers from different disciplines - that is the principle of the tandem lectures in the Interdisciplinary Lecture Series on Sustainability at the University of Freiburg. On Wednesday, February 2, 2022, Prof. Dr. Nina Degele, Head of the Chair of Sociology and Empirical Gender Research at the Institute of Sociology, and Prof. Dr. Lars P. Feld, Head of the Chair of Economic Policy and Regulatory Economics at the Institute of Economics, will speak on the topic of economics and climate change, starting at 6:00 pm. In his lecture "The economic path to effective climate protection", Feld will outline the most important political steps to achieve the climate goals of the current legislative period from an economic perspective. Degele, in her presentation "More Expensive than Money: The Externalization of Social and Environmental Costs under Capitalism," argues that the climate crisis is a consequence of the capitalist economic system, and also addresses the role of natural resources, care labor and the community. The Center for Key Qualifications (ZfS) of the University of Freiburg cordially invites all interested parties to this tandem lecture.
