Revelations from the world of professional soccer
Freiburg, Jan 23, 2018
Fans have long suspected the dirty goings-on behind the scenes in the world of soccer. The so-called Football Leaks offer a closer look at the shadow side of the industry. A whistleblower gave the news journal DER SPIEGEL more than 20 million documents. The contracts, agreements and arrangements show that morals and the law have virtually no bearing on the players in professional soccer. SPIEGEL editor Michael Wulzinger summarizes the most important revelations in a book together with his colleague Rafael Buschmann. During a reading, he will offer a closer look at the issue at the Department of Sport and Sport Science at the University of Freiburg. Michael Dörfler, sports editor at the Badische Zeitung will moderate the ensuing discussion with the audience.
