Refugee policy in the EU – organized hypocrisy?

Many observers view the development over the past few years to be less of a refugee crisis and more of a crisis in EU refugee policies. This development is characterized by the tension between the official position of EU’s strengthened role in protecting refugees and the goal to reduce the overall number of asylum seekers. During her presentation Prof. Dr. Sandra Lavenex from the University of Geneva, Switzerland will pose the question about planned institutional strategy in order to deal with the contradictory demands directed at the EU. Is it then more about organized hypocrisy?
