European Union versus democracy?
On May 27, 2019 political scientist Isabelle Guinaudeau will hold a lecture about the European elections
Freiburg, May 14, 2019
European integration has led to a unique transfer of sovereignty to supranational institutions. The EU has thus become a place of political decision-making in its own right, and the citizens are increasingly aware of its creative power. However, the idea of an ever-closer Union has been heavily criticized. In her lecture, political scientist Dr. Isabelle Guinaudeau from the Centre Emile Durkheim des Sciences Po Bordeaux, France, will discuss whether the EU has a democratic deficit on the basis of current research results.
