The Earthquake in Turkey and Syria

It is with great sadness and horror that the University of Freiburg looks upon the consequences of the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria on February 6, 2023. Our sympathy is especially extended to all University members who have relatives and friends in the affected areas.

We encourage all University members who need support in this context, such as psychosocial care, to contact the appropriate University offices. An overview of these services is provided on our emergency page. Here you will also find information on how to donate to help the victims of this disaster.

Students can also contact the Student Service Center with any questions, in particular the teams of the Central Student Advisory Service and International Admissions and Services, and exchange students can contact the International Office. Doctoral students can contact Dr. David Willmes from the International Graduate Academy and postdocs can contact Dr. Ramona Wurst, who is a certified mental health professional, responsible for postdocs and part of the contact point for first aid in crises and mental health issues. Employees of the University of Freiburg can contact the External Counseling Service.
