Group “Transformationsuni 2.0” accepts University of Freiburg’s offer of talks and vacates occupied lecture hall
Freiburg, Jun 27, 2022
The University of Freiburg welcomes the decision of the group “Transformationsuni 2.0” to accept the talks on the group’s aims offered by the university leadership for this Monday morning, 27 June 2022. The precondition for these talks was that the group vacate the occupied lecture hall 1010 voluntarily by 10 a.m. today. This has occurred. The lecture hall is again available for studies, teaching, and other university functions.
The university leadership is available as of now for a dialogue concerning the group’s aims. In addition to today’s talks, this will include further work on the topic and the participation of representatives from the group in university committee meetings. The university would like to stress once again that the occupation of a lecture hall is an unlawful action and is therefore unacceptable as a basis for constructive work. We thank the group “Transformationsuni 2.0” for backing down.
“Transformationsuni 2.0” occupied lecture hall 1010 on the evening of Monday, 20 June 2022, after a lecture. The university leadership had very open and constructive talks with the group on the same evening and the following morning. The group declined a further offer of talks from the University of Freiburg for Wednesday, 22 June 2022. It did not vacate the lecture hall by the set deadline (Wednesday, 12 noon), which was the precondition for the continuation of these talks and for further talks. Even after that, the University of Freiburg remained open for talks under the aforementioned precondition. Then, on Friday, 24 June 2022, the group agreed to vacate the lecture hall voluntarily by Monday at 10 a.m. and thus to enter into a further dialogue with the university on its aims.
