Election of New Rector Postponed

Dear Colleagues,

On 17 April 2020 the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg again amended its regulation on measures to prevent infection and halt the spread of coronavirus, including a ban on events and other gatherings of more than five people in non-public areas until 3 May 2020. In this context and in view of the serious growth of the corona pandemic, the meeting to elect a new rector of the University of Freiburg which was to be held at a joint session of the Senate and the University Council on Wednesday, 29 April is being postponed.

By agreement of the university management and the chair of the University Council the new date is planned for the late afternoon of 27 May. However, as there is still much uncertainty, we ask you simply to note this date as a possibility. As soon as we have greater clarity as to whether the meeting can take place we will send you further details.
