Promoting research into a basic income
Freiburg, May 15, 2019
Ladies and gentlemen,
A basic income for everyone: Research into just how this idea could become reality has just received a major boost. From 1 June 2019, the dm-Werner Foundation is to provide funding of two million euros over the next ten years to support the Professorship of Economic Policy and Constitutional Economic Theory at the University of Freiburg. At a
sponsorship signing ceremony and press conference
on Tuesday, 21 May 2019, 11 am at the Rektoratsgebäude,
Fahnenbergplatz, 6th floor, 79085 Freiburg,
the patrons - Professor Götz W. Werner, founder of the drugstore chain dm, and his wife Beatrice Werner – together with the Rector, Professor Dr. Hans-Jochen Schiewer and Professor Dr. Bernhard Neumärker, Director of the Department of Economic Policy and Constitutional Economic Theory, will present the sponsorship agreement and the research field.
In addition, three further experts will be available for comment: Professor Dr. Sascha Liebermann, Alanus University for arts and social sciences, and Professor Dr. Rainer Wieland, of the Wuppertaler Institut für Unternehmensforschung und Organisationspsychologie (WIFOP) at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal, and scientific director of the HartzPlus study on the basic income, are both personally and professionally connected with Götz Werner by their research into the unconditional basic income. PD Dr. Roland Thomaschke, Department of Psychology at the University of Freiburg, conducts research with Bernhard Neumärker in the project “The Psychology of the Basic Income.”
We would be delighted to welcome you at the event.
