Students make new bee hotel that provides insects a place of refuge

They say it's all about "location, location, location!" A new bee hotel on the campus of the Freiburg University Medical Center offers more than 50 thousand tunnels where wild bees and other insects can dwell. During a seminar, Landscape Ecologist Felix Fornoff and his students made the hotel in the carpentry shop at the Woodland Botanical Garden. There, they built it from maple, reeds and blackberry stems. The project was finished right on schedule – in April and May, bees are on the lookout for a place to lay their eggs.
