In March 2017, the University of Freiburg expanded its homepage into a multimedia Online Magazine, with continuously updated articles, photo galleries, and videos covering the latest news and events. The features focus on the people who impact and enrich the University and tell their stories. All information is in German and English and is organized into six sections. You can now also subscribe to one or more monthly newsletters with the latest news for each section. Simply pick and choose what you want to know more about according to your interests.
- research & discover offers news about science and research: from unconditional basic income, and feeding cities in a sustainable way, to alternative sources of fuel to replace diesel engines.
- teaching & learning covers topics important to studying, teaching, and continuing education. You can find information here about learning strategies online training, new methods in teachers’ training, or a seminar on medieval handwriting in which students learn to write their own texts with quills.
- experience & get involved presents the University’s colorful campus life: from a flash mob in downtown Freiburg to raise awareness for the importance of administering CPR in emergencies, and a suggested excursion to historical sites on the Upper Rhine, to the Bike Bridge student initiative.
- invent & establish has the latest news about startups and technology transfer, with information about the latest events and courses offered by the Startup Office, spinoffs like ResuSciTec, and the Startinsland business plan competition.
- in promote & commit, you can find profiles of former students and foundations who support the University – for example, by loaning musical instruments, handing out advancement awards to outstanding young researchers, and awarding the Deutschlandstipendium (Germany Scholarship).
- Finally, connect & create has the latest higher education policy and international relations: It includes the magazine Wissen schaft Vertrauen (Research Creates Trust) published by the academic association German U15, along with the University of Freiburg’s new career portal and the latest news about Walking Dialogues, a program designed to help international students learn German through real-life experiences.
