Support for Ukraine
Freiburg, Dec 13, 2022
Russia's invasion of Ukraine generated a broad international response of support. But how have NGOs responded to the needs of refugees and Ukrainians on the ground? And how has the University of Freiburg responded to the needs of its Ukrainian students and researchers? In addition, how can friends and alumni of the University of Freiburg offer help? Join our discussion with Ambassador (retired) Dr. Christine Althauser, Förderverein Alumni Freiburg e.V. and Alice Greider, World Jewish Relief (London) by registering for the conversation to be held via Zoom.
Christine Althauser is the second chairwoman of Alumni Freiburg e.V. She received her doctorate with a dissertation on “Russia’s Path to the Council of Europe” and held a lectureship at the Department of Political Science at University of Freiburg from 2005 to 2007.
Alice Greider is the Older People Programmes Officer at World Jewish Relief, addressing the material and social needs of the elderly and people with disabilities in Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Belarus and Bosnia. Previously, she lived in Ukraine as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer. While pursuing a degree in international relations at Penn State University in the United States, she completed a semester abroad in Freiburg, Germany.
