Rediscovering Europe’s future
11th Franco-German Cultural Talks entitled “Democrac(ies) in Crisis”
Freiburg, Apr 17, 2018
In almost all states of the European Union, populist parties and movements are questioning the basic values of Western democracies. Even some elected governments regard human dignity as obscure and relativize religious freedom, freedom of speech and the press, as well as gender equality. Has democracy reached its demise? How can Europe assure its fundamental values, renew its goals, aspirations and institutions? Which narratives spark the idea of a convincing and sustainable European community? Participants from politics, culture, science and media will discuss this topic at the Freiburg Cultural Talks - and help redesign Europe’s future.
