In his lecture "Limits of Pragmatism: Authority Failure as a Security Risk" Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Seibel from the University of Konstanz will compare the failure of the authorities in the police investigation after the NSU murderers with the failure of the Duisburg city administration in planning the Love Parade 2010. He argues that is it exactly the kind of pragmatic management style in the area of physical security preferable in administrative duties that places increased demands on leadership. For example, if there is political pressure or scarce resources, there is a risk that these requirements will be neither recognized nor met.
