Living landscapes, soundscapes
Freiburg, Nov 12, 2019
Private rooms such as living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms and children's rooms were and are places of music that become soundscapes with the help of audio devices, from ambient sound from the gramophone funnel, playlists for everyday life, mixtapes cutting for the playground. On November 22 and 23, 2019, the Center for Popular Culture and Music (ZPKM) at the University of Freiburg will focus on domestic 20th and 21st century audio devices and their users. Under the direction of Dr. Knut Holtsträter, Dr. Anne Holzmüller and Dr. Tobias Widmaier, scientists from various disciplines will come together at the conference “Living landscapes, Soundscapes” to approach the topic from different perspectives. The general public is cordially invited to listen to the lectures and participate in the discussions.
