Lecture by Roman Romanov on the exhibition “Letzte Botschaften” (“Last Messages”) on 15 Nov. 2017
Freiburg, Oct 30, 2017
The “Gulag,” the extensive system of penal and labor camps in the former Soviet Union, is a symbol of the worst consequences of the October Revolution. Roman Romanov, director of the Gulag Museum in Moscow, Russia, explores the issue of finding a suitable means of dealing with this past. The lecture is part of the Russian cultural festival “Russische Kulturtage 2017” and accompanies the exhibition “Letzte Botschaften. Briefe von Vätern aus dem Gulag” (“Last Messages: Letters from Fathers from the Gulag”), which runs until 16 Feb. 2018 at the Freiburg University Library and may be viewed daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
