Occasionally, the impression arises that excellent research is more important than excellent approaches in teaching in day-to-day university operations - not least because of the excellence strategy as a competition for cutting-edge research that is attracting much public attention. But do good teaching and good research really have to compete against one another? Or can they both benefit from one another because there are certain skills and subject matter that only a university strong in research can impart to its students? These questions are the subject of a panel discussion in the series “On Research, Teaching, and Career Paths - Prospects for the Future of the University of Freiburg.” The keynote speech will be given by Bettina Jorzik, director of the program area “Teaching and Young Academics” at the Stifterverband.
