Measurements on trees provide data for determining their stress levels and means of communication

Freiburg, Apr 29, 2022

How do plants and trees react to changing environmental conditions? And how do they interact with each other? These questions are being addressed by University of Freiburg researchers from the Chair of Hydrology at the Institute of Earth and Environmental Sciences and the Chair of Ecosystem Physiology at the Institute of Forest Sciences. The team wants to learn more about the functioning of trees and plants in order to better protect them from the impact of climate change. Erik Daber, Dr. Simon Haberstroh, and Prof. Dr. Christiane Werner provide insight into their daily research work, which they perform both in the middle of the forest and in the lab.
