Deutschlandstipendium awards ceremony

By participating in this program, donors show their trust and appreciation in the students at the University of Freiburg.

Freiburg, Nov 02, 2022

In October, 140 scholarship recipients and regional and national sponsors, including companies, foundations and private individuals, received certificates for the “Deutschlandstipendium” (German scholarship) program at the University of Freiburg. The event facilitated an exchange between students and their sponsors.

Half of each Deutschlandstipendium is financed by private donations and half by public funds. All scholarship recipients are awarded 300 euros per month for at least one year. Our scholarship donors pay half of this - 150 euros a month - and still make a full scholarship possible. In addition to very good academic performance, social activism and personal challenges also count in the selection of scholarship recipients.

“By participating in this support program, the scholarship providers show trust and appreciation for the committed students and their university education,” says Prof. Dr. Kerstin Krieglstein, Rector at the University of Freiburg. “The goal should be to enable students to engage in critical and committed (self-)reflection and to encourage them to embrace the exciting richness of perspectives in science. With their commitment to the Deutschlandstipendium, the scholarship donors show their equal connection to both the region and the University.”
